Snoring Inn policies
Privacy Policy
What personal information we hold, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated 20 September 2026Snoring Inn (PTY) Ltd
This policy explains how Snoring Inn (PTY) Ltd handles personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We are the responsible party for the information described here.
What we collect
- When you enquire
- Your name, phone number, email address, the dates and property you asked about, and anything you write to us.
- When you book
- The above, plus the number of guests, special requests, and your company details if you are booking for work.
- When you check in
- Identification details for the guest register, which we are required to keep.
- When you pay
- The payment method, the amount, the date, your payment reference, and your proof of payment. Card payments are processed on the card machine and we never see or store your full card number.
- When you message us
- The content of your WhatsApp messages, emails and calls with us, including anything you attach.
- When you use this site
- Technical information such as your IP address and browser, used to keep the site working and to stop abuse of our forms.
Where it comes from
Mostly from you directly. We also receive guest details from Booking.com, travel agencies and corporate travel desks when they make a booking on your behalf, and from your employer when you stay on a company account.
Why we hold it
- To take and honour your booking, which is our contract with you.
- To contact you about your stay, including arrival arrangements and anything that changes.
- To take payment and to keep accurate financial records.
- To meet legal obligations, including keeping a guest register and keeping records for tax.
- To run and improve the business, including handling complaints and resolving disputes.
- To ask you about your stay afterwards, where you have not told us you would rather we did not.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. We share what is necessary with:
- Our banks and payment providers, to process and confirm payments.
- Booking.com, travel agencies and corporate travel desks, where your booking came through them.
- Our website hosting, database and image hosting providers, who store the data that runs this site.
- Our accountants and auditors.
- Law enforcement or a regulator, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store data on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens we rely on providers who are subject to data protection laws comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
Booking and financial records are kept for as long as the law requires us to keep them, which for financial records in South Africa is five years from the end of the tax year they relate to. Enquiries that never became bookings are kept for a shorter period and then deleted.
How we protect it
Access to booking and guest records is limited to staff who need it to do their job, and administrative access to our systems is password protected. Paper records kept at the properties are stored out of public view. No system is perfect, and if a breach ever put your information at real risk we would tell you and report it to the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
- Object to us using your information for a particular purpose.
- Tell us to stop sending you marketing messages, at any time.
- Complain to the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these, contact us on snoringinn@gmail.com or 063 644 4444. We will need to be reasonably sure you are who you say you are before we release or change anything.
Complaining to the Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
